Because Blogger won’t let me leave comments

I’m enjoying Jim Donahue’s Blogiversary retrospective at the moment, and I really really wanted to comment on his Land of the Lost vs. Sigmund and the Sea Monsters Smackdown, but Blogger (it’s free!), as many of you know, is a buggery (but free!) affair, so I can’t tell Jim these important things:

I can still sing the theme to Land of the Lost.

You’re right: Land of the Lost wins against Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, hands down. But what about H. R. Pufnstuf? Gaaaaah, now that song will be with me all night.

Must think of something different.

Must think of Land of the Lost‘s  Holly, grown up and clothed in nothing but ganache. (Hat tip to YesButNoButYes for their Where are They Now: Saturday Morning Babes article. Check it out.)

Ya know, for many years I would try and tell my pals about this weird show I watched as a kid about a family that got stuck way back in time and would be chased by a T-rex to their cave, and then be chased by aliens things that hissed and wore sparklie black spandex suits. They used to try and rearrage these glowing rocks to find the code back home, and occasionally got too far out in their boat and nearly got tossed over a waterfall.

Thay all thought I was tripping.

    I feel validated now.

You know, as a child, besides the mean robots on Dr. Who, and the bore worms in Flash Gordon, I thought sleestacks were the scriest things in the world, and to this day if I’m having a being chased dream, they resemble sleestacks.

    Damn Blogger–but it’s free!!!!

There’s another Krofftian Smackdown here, BTW.

Lyvvie: always glad to validate a reader.

Jim: thanks for the link. I vaguely remember those two shows — but it was Land of the Lost which earned my steady viewership as a kid.

Oh, does anyone remember how great Charles Nelson Reilly was in X Files? I think he was in two episodes, and played a character named Jose Chung. Here. Let me google that.

Yup. Here’s a bio on Charles Nelson Reilly. The character’s name is indeed Jose Chung, and the episode title, “From Outer Space” (a really good episode).

Wonder if I should do a Thursday Thirteen on 13 favorite X-files episodes. Hm.

H.R. Pufnstuf, who’s your friend when things get rough? LOVED that show and the other ones too.

    One Banana
    Two Bananas
    Three Bananas
    Four
    Four Bananas make a bunch
    and so do many more.
Over hill and highway the Banana Bunches go:
    Fleagle
    Dweekle
    Droople
    and Snort.
    La la la, la-la-la la!
    La la la, la-la-la la!

I may have the names wrong, but that’s pretty good for typing it from MEMORY. No googling at all. _Now_ do you hate me?
