Exclusive: Bill O’Reilly’s Pre-Appearance Agreement for The Colbert Report

If you saw Papa Bear sparring with Stephen Colbert last night (Crooks and Liars has the video), you know something went horribly, terribly wrong. How could the legendary Bill O’Reilly have allowed this young upstart to humiliate him so badly?

Balls and Walnuts has the answer: Jesse Watters, producer of The O’Reilly Factor, bungled the pre-appearance agreement. This evening, we have received not merely a copy of that agreement, but a copy marked up by O’Reilly after the fact.

But a picture is worth . . . well, you know.

Expect to see Mr. Watters’ resume appearing on Monster.Com some time real soon . . .

    He went on Colbert Report?

    WTF?

I’m not getting why he’s going on other people’s shows. Everyone knows it’s going to be a smackdown. Why bother?

    the whole thing is weird.

He admitted to Colbert (during his appearance on Colbert Report) “this is a mistake”. I suspect Colbert’s remark about Jon Stewart being a sexual predator — “I had to leave that program. The man is a sexual predator. You have no idea what that’s like” — zinged O’Reilly but good.

They made appearances on each other’s show, Suisan. Crooks and Liars has both videos.

I actually thought that O’Reilly came off pretty well in that clip. He accepted the barbs with grace and humour, and he played along. He even made some funnies of his own.

Not that he’s in any sense right, of course. But he isn’t without humanity.

  4. Walnut says:

Well, he didn’t look like an ass, and I think he was bright enough to figure out that Colbert had found ways to subvert their pre-appearance agreement. But I do think he was a dope for agreeing to this in the first place.

    Hee, hee!
Got that markup from your own sources, did you?
My hat’s off to you (or your source).
I will admit to being on the edge of my seat as Colbert showed off the purloined microwave, waiting to hear him suggest what Middle Eastern delicacy might have been prepared in it. Now I understand why he stopped short.
