Here in the States, we’re having, arguably, the most important midterm election of my lifetime. Given what this may mean at home for the next two years, and given how thoroughly the US can screw up the rest of the world, I don’t think it’s an overstatement to say this election has profound international significance.
Closer to home, my friend has her operation scheduled for tomorrow. I wish I could be one of those prayer people, or one of those “beam positive thoughts” people, but I can’t. (Or at least, I won’t admit it.) I know how much depends on my friend and her surgeon.
More than ever, I wish I could be Samantha Stevens.
D.
It’s my first time ever voting Democrat. Missouri is notoriously conservative Republican, but you never can tell about these things, eh?
It’s looking like the big Senate race [Talent/McCaskill] is going toward Talent so far, but that’s only after the rural areas have been counted. They still haven’t started on Kansas City and St. Louis yet, and they are usually highly Democratic.
For me, it’s weird to be praying that the Democrats will win. I was kinda taught that you can’t be a Dem and a Christian at the same time. Wrong and stupid, but I bought it for a while.
It’s amazing what a little self-education can do for a person, eh? OY, it wears me out, though!
I am praying for your friend. I wish that was a guarantee that she’ll be fine, but you know as well as I do there’s no guarantee with that kind of thing, even if all the ‘prayer warriors’ in the world were on their knees.
I’m not a spiritual giant by any means, but I am praying, Doug. Take care and keep us updated, okay?
Can’t be a Christian and a Democrat? You ought to hang out at Blue Gal’s place, Shelbi 😉
As for my friend, thanks. I’m hoping for the best for her.
You wouldn’t rather be Dumbledore? Or another wonderfully magical male character, because Doug, you have to admit, you’d look a bit uncomfortable in Sam’s dresses, and the mid-knee length skirt wouldn’t suit much either.
Hey I thought you went to Hogwarts – didn’t you learn anything helpful there???
Until you find your answers I’ll offer up some of my positiveness and prayers; every little helps bit helps, right?
All they ever taught me at Hogwarts were those silly spells to open locked doors or make my wand glow. Admittedly, having a glow-in-the-dark . . . wand has its advantages, but they never taught me the stuff that really matters. Like throwing elections. Or saving lives.
Looks like we didn’t need any magical help with the elections, though.
Sam was great ‘cuz she could do anything at all by wiggling her nose. If there were any limits to her magic, the writers never showed them. It would be worth looking silly in a dress.
I know, Blue Gal is pretty awesome. And freaking brilliant.
In our election news:
It looks like McCaskill won. I really didn’t know how it would go, and I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised.
😛
