This looks a lot worse than it feels.
I’m doing great today. I haven’t needed any pain meds, and it doesn’t even hurt to cough. Much. I should be fine for work tomorrow.
In addition to the hernia, I had my surgeon remove this:
See that pale, square area? This thing looks like I tried to remove a Charlie Manson tattoo using a spork. Don’t know if it’ll look any better after it heals, but for now, it looks like hell:
Me? Vain? Naaaah.
I’m gonna bail on live-blogging this weekend. You don’t need to see me yawn.
D.
I’ll take your word for it and pass on the feeling, thanks.
Your forehead looks worse than your stomach – was it “Bring Your Toddler To Work Day?”
I agree…the forehead looks a lot worse than the stomach.
A dermatologist would have been neater. Just wait til the hair starts growing back…we’re talking major itchy.
The forehead will heal fine. He successfully positioned the incision so that when it heals, it will fall into a skin crease (polite term for wrinkle). Et voila, the scar vanishes! That’s the plan, anyway.
I had to come over to leave a link but decided your Hawaii Aloha Life post wasn’t the place.
Here’s the link. Maybe you have to have read Heart of Darkness. lately to love it. I have, I do.
Since we’re talking about death, my mother had years of rotten illness but lingered in the best possible place–an elder-care woman who lived at the edge of the woods and made sure to take my mother outside every day, which is all my mother really wanted anyway.
Glad you are healing. But did it hurt as bad as sinus surgery? I don’t mind admitting that I was secretly pleased when my ENT informed me after my last sinus surgery that he had the same procedure the previous year. I always like for my pain to be appreciated .
Oh, and “skin crease” is not much of a euphemism. It sounds almost as bad as wrinkle. I much prefer “character line.”
Kate: that was brilliant link-foo. Much appreciated 🙂
KB: I dunno, how much does sinus surgery hurt? Most of my sinus patients don’t complain, to be honest.
My character line itches.
Eh, sinus surgery hurts less than childbirth but more than a c-section. Not a very helpful camparison for you, I am afraid. I will qualify that by saying that I had the easiest and most ideal conditions for my c-section possible. I also think the after-effects of general anesthesia make the pain more difficult to shake off. Not that I am complaining. Being awake during sinus surgery is hardly an option. I shudder at the thought. I have had 3 sinus surgeries and I always had significant polyps to be removed, so my nose ended up pretty well abused. I have also had septoplasty (sp?) 2 out of three times. The sinus pain paled in comparison to the nose pain. Percocet is a beautiful thing 😉
OUCH! That forehead shot is painful looking. Dang.
The belly is still a little tender, but everything else feels okay. My mouth bothered me more than anything else (from the oral airway).
